Newborn Session FAQ
When should I schedule my newborn session?
The best time for newborn photos is when the baby is 7-14 days old. It’s best to book your session while you are still pregnant to ensure I have an opening around your due date. When you book a newborn session with me we will tentatively schedule the session on your estimated due date. Once the baby is born I ask that you contact me as soon as possible so we can set the actual date for the session, before the baby is two weeks old. I only take a limited number of due dates per month to ensure that I have an opening when your baby is born. If you have already had your baby please still contact me because I may be able to squeeze your newborn in.
Do you provide the props for the session or do I need to bring anything?
Yes I provide all the necessary props for the session. I have a large collections of wraps, headbands, hats, baskets, backdrops, etc. Almost all the props you see in my website portfolio are part of my collection. You are not required to bring anything but you are certainly welcome to bring a special heirloom and I will do my best to incorporate it into the session.
How long will the session last?
Most newborn sessions will last 2-3 hours. This will give us plenty of time to pose, soothe and feed the baby as needed.
Where will the newborn session take place?
Most sessions take place in my downtown McKinney studio. If you prefer an in-home session please review the in-home lifestyle newborn gallery for an example of images. In-home lifestyle sessions are minimally posed, causal sessions that use your home as a backdrop.
How long will it take to receive my images after the session?
My normal turnaround time is two weeks. During the Spring and Fall my turnaround time is closer to three weeks. You will be notified via email when your images are ready.
What are the studio hours?
The studio is open Monday-Thursday from 10AM until 3PM, Friday 10AM until 1PM and Saturday from 9AM until 11AM. Newborn sessions are held Monday-Friday at 10AM.
